The formal unveiling of the Olusegun Obasanjo Centre for African Studies (OOCAS) held earlier today at the university headquarters in Abuja.
The centre, formally known as the Olusegun Obasanjo Centre for Good Governance was revamped and restrategized to be encompassing with a view to mirroring Africa in its radiant glory.
Head of the Centre, Prof. Stanley Naribo Ngoa while giving a deeper perspective into the functions of the centre stated that the centre is working with various international scholars to ensure intellectual exchange based on the production of empirical scientific research of quality that is of relevance to our immediate community; Nigeria, the West African sub region and ultimately, the sub-continent of Africa.
He said, OOCAS is committed to cutting-edge enquirer with the aim of also generating new sets of continental scholars.
He also stated that the immediate key focus areas of the centre include; the African Leadership and Development Question, Food Security and Agricultural Research, Health in Rural Nigeria; Infant and Maternal Mortality, amongst others. 
In the mean time, he said the centre’s robust website will soon be launched.
The Vice-Chancellor NOUN, commended the centre by stating that it is the first directorate that has taken time to give a breakdown of its activities and also has a full blown independent online presence.
Present at the unveiling were the University Librarian, Dr. Adam Gambi Saleh, Emeritus Professor Godwin Sogolo, as well as some senior associates and researchers in the centre.
