Iwo community traditional leadership to mobilized support for the NOUN study centre.
Good times are here for Iwo community study centre, as the traditional leadership of the community, mobilized support for the centre.
This came to the fore when, the Director of the centre, Dr Muideen Sanusi, led other members of staff to the palace of Oluwo of Iwo, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr)Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, on a courtesy visit.
The monarch, who described Sanusi’s appointment as centre director as a cheering news to the community, ordered Iwo Indigene Development Association to ensure complete facelift of the centre.
The leadership of the community is also championing a door-to-door campaign, to mobilize the entire community to embrace Open and Distance Learning mode of education.
It would be recalled that, NOUN News reported the deplorable condition of the centre and the difficulties in getting indigenes enrolled in NOUN.
Iwo is predominantly populated by Muslims, with women in purdah comprising 40% of the population.
