NOUN ACETEL HOLDS RETREAT- IN ABUJA
Africa Centre of Excellence on Technology Enhanced Learning (ACETEL) is holding a week long retreat for it’s members in Abuja.
The retreat according to Center Director Grace Jokthan is to draw up a working template acceptable to the World Bank and the Association of African Universities (AAU).
Jokthan said the retreat is expected to birth some working documents like the social safeguard policy, Risk mitigation and the sexual harassment policies which are expected to guide the implementation of ACETEL project.
She added it is to enable ACETEL draw up an acceptable working policies for the engagement of sectoral, academic as well as industrial partners.
Three committees were created to enable ACETEL achieve it’s set objectives: The Implementation plan, expected to draft ACE (Africa Centre of Excellence) implementation plan, The proposal for Sexual Harassment, Risk mitigation and Environmental Safeguards and the committee on Regional and Industrial strategy.
These aspects according to Jokthan are necessary requirements by the World Bank in order to access funds.
Addressing members shortly on arrival, Jokthan says “this retreat is to provide members of the team with the environment and the opportunity they need away from their other official engagements to be able to concentrate on the deliveriables of the project.The project expects us to draw up an implementation plan”.
The retreat which starts Thursday 11th-17th April, is taking place at Rockview Royale Hotel Abuja.
