RETRIDOL, OER Africa Train NOUN Staff on Course Design
A 3-day workshop on Course Design and Development incorporating OER, was held from 5th to 7th February, 2019 at the university headquarters in Abuja.
The workshop was organized by RETRIDOL in collaboration with the OER Africa.
Director of RETRIDOL, Prof. Patrick Eya said the workshop targeted the incorporation of course design with the OER module.
Declaring the workshop open on Wednesday, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdalla Uba Adamu, said a lot has changed since the last visit by the facilitator from OER Africa.
Adamu however acknowledged that the biggest challenge is that 90 percent of NOUN clients (students) prefer hard copies (paper) study materials.
He said the facilitator’s presence was extremely important, especially as she is also an African.
He disclosed that the University of Ilorin had come to NOUN a fortnight ago asking for materials in Distance Learning.
“They want to start a distance learning but they don’t have materials, which we gave them. But we asked them to acknowledge that the materials are from NOUN,” he said.
He said a lot of universities on the African continent and in Nigeria have been using NOUN course materials.
Adamu Urged participants not to be afraid to ask questions, as the facilitator was ready to take them through.
