Good Morning Students, Today's topic on our book GST 101 is LISTENING ENABLING SKILLS . Firstly, what will surely pop up to our minds is..Who is a Listener....?

Now, let me ask .. ...

3.1 Who Is  a Listener....?  

You are that Listener. because listening is  a compulsory day to day activity of the programme..(pg 2 3.1) 

Although most of the time you will be reading, there will be an occasion when you have to listen to tape recorder, Radio, Television, or Video....

It is quite undoubted  that  you need the skills of listening accurately and to comprehend what is convey to you as information....

Why Must We Listen...?

  • It's obvious that listen is a compulsory day to day activity..
  • You listen to your friends talking,may be your language or English.
  • You listen to directions when you get lost or new in a place 
  • You listen to Lectures, which are delivered by the specialist in a particular field 
Purpose of Listening 

It's certain you must have purpose of doing things..... here are some purposes of listening  

Telephone Conversation 
Day to day activity 
Working in the office 
Absorbing academic lectures
Critical Evaluation of what people are saying 

on the last note we have....

Listening Enabling Skills 

we will just mention but a few what are the requirements we crave for a better listening...

  • Functioning ears 
  • Concentration 
  • Ability to think along with the speaker 
  • Ability to anticipate what the speaker is about to say 
  • Ability to note important signpost that facilitate listening activity going
Lastly, we should know that anybody is capable of listening as far as the mention above is well taken care of..
