The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdalla U. A today, held a meeting with the staff, on the developments in the University.


The National Open University of Nigeria, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdalla Uba Adamu today, held a meeting with the staff of the Lagos Liaison office to brief them on the developments in the University.
He stated that the management has taken delivery of the University’s printing which was completed in 8months.
He urged staff to advertise the press on behalf of the University, as such gesture would attract commission for whoever brings ‘jobs’ to be executed by the press.
The VC also mentioned that work is ongoing on the faculty buildings and emphasized that once completed, relocation of staff of the faculties is inevitable.
He then decried the situation where staff go abroad for further studies and end up not achieving what they went for. He said the management of the University would henceforth be strict with such applications.
Abdalla told staff that the University has been chosen as a centre of technology and the recognition would fetch the University more measurable impact

The VC stated that a new criteria for promotion has been drawn up and promised no one would be denied promotion. He also said staff would no longer pay for their paper publications now that the press is coming on board
He showered encomiums on the PG School for the innovations brought into the system. He described Prof. Mande as a trailblazer, whose stock in trade is to bring fresh impetus to the PG school.
He also said that following the retirement of the DVC Administration, Prof. Victor Adedipe, a new DVC will be appointed and would come from the south west to reflect the geo political spread of Principal Officers of the University.
The VC spoke about the beautiful church building at the HQ, the football pitch, lawn tennis court and basketball court.He said these facilities have enhanced staff interaction and fostered greater relationship among staff of the University
Adamu commended the director, Lagos study centre, Prof. Justus Sokefun for his dynamic leadership and commended him and Dr Alero Akujobi for their roles in ensuring that the gazette came out in record time. He described this as the result of years of toil for the University. He went ahead and presented a copy of the gazette to Prof. Sokefun.
