NOUN Certificates More Recognised Outside Nigeria

QUALIFICATIONS obtained from the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) have enjoyed greater recognition outside the country than at home.
This was disclosed by the Director of NOUN Study Centre, McCarthy, Lagos, Professor T James, last weekend, during the university’s 16th Matriculation Ceremony.
According to James, NOUN graduates have continued to access international opportunities often more quickly than their counterparts from conventional universities in the country.
He said, “Our certificates are more recognised outside the country. NOUN graduates have been able to find a lot of opportunities at the international level, because our qualifications tend to be accepted more outside than even many conventional universities.”

James who noted that, contrary to popular belief, NOUN is not a part-time institution said the university was created to give access to all categories of people.
He said, “We are not part-time. We are just open and distance learning. Even though the motto of the university is work and learn, we give room for everybody, because it is open university. It’s open to everybody, whether you’re working or not, whether you’re young or old.”
According to the professor, the centre which admitted a total of 826 students during the ceremony is NOUN’s fastest growing centre.
He said, “Of all the 77 study centres in the country, McCarthy is the fastest-growing study centre probably because of its location. It was established only about 4 years ago.”
