AGF To Support Award For Best Financial Reporting Student Of NOUN Business School

Ahmed Idris, Accountant-General of the Federation, says he is ready to support an annual award to the best financial reporting student of the Business School of National Open University of Nigeria.

Oise Johnson, Head, Press and Public Relations, Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, made this known in a statement on Sunday, in Abuja.
The statement said that Idris said this at a meeting with the representatives of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria and NOUN, on the need to develop a platform for further engagement on accounting work.
Idris urged universities and other tertiary institutions of learning to inculcate the appropriate financial reporting values, adding that the award was to encourage the laudable project.

It said: “This is to encourage the upcoming financial reporters to strive to be the best they can be in the field of study.”
Idris also promised to collaborate with the two organisations to take financial reporting to the next level, adding that he would be one of the pioneer students of the NOUN Business School.

The AGF congratulated the executive members of the council for coming up with such a forum, describing the project as a laudable one, which would ensure adherence to international best practices in financial reporting.

Daniel Asapokhai, Executive Secretary, FRCN, thanked the AGF for his continued support and solicited for improved engagement on accounting duties, personnel deployment and other ways to sustain the synergy between the OAGF and the council for mutual benefits.
Prof. Mande Samaila, Dean of Post Graduate Studies, NOUN, said he also supports the need to establish financial reporting courses in the institutions with activities such as Financial Reporting Clubs and Award giving days.
