Announcement: TMA Latest Development

It is quite obvious that the new TMA (Tutor Marked Assignment) has taken new dimension as the Management of the institution has decided to change the view it was before. Here are the details below.

TMA 1

Opening date: 5th June, 2018
Closing date: 26th June, 2018
12 midnight

TMA 2

Opening date: 27th June, 2018

Closing date: 18th July, 2018
12 midnight

TMA 3

Opening date: 19th July, 2018

Closing date: 14th August, 2018
12 midnight

NOTE:

1) Students can now only read and do their tmas, no printouts

2) Only a TMA will be available for a student at a time, following the timelines provided. This means that no TMA is open-ended.
*You must do your TMA within that period or risk a zero mark for that TMA*

3) You must attempt TMA and exams to receive an end of semester grade for every course registered. This is a standard rule for university.

4) Ideally, a student should pass both TMA and exams to receive a pass mark for the course. Therefore, students should endeavour to do their TMA themselves as TMAs prepare students for their final examinations.

5) A student is expected to study the course materials, do TMAs and assignments in the course materials before attempting the online TMAs. Therefore, one (1) question will pop up at a time for student to attempt before the next question will pop-up. Where the student is not able to attempt for example, question 1, he/she could click *NEXT* to move to question 2 and so on.

6) There are three TMAs per each course registered by a student, a student is expected to attempt all. Each TMA has 10 test items(1-10)

Mr. Solomon Dalung,Minister For Youths and Sports- Applauds NOUN on The Launch of NESDIP

Solomon Dalung

Mr. Solomon Dalung, Minister for Youths and Sports,  has applauded the launch of the National Employability Skill Development and Internship Programme (NESDIP) by the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) which he hoped will train fresh and unemployed graduates with contemporary skills and competency required to function productively.
Dalung, who gave the commendation at the launch of NESDIP in Lagos, said the initiative will assist hitherto unemployed youths with training capable of making them functional in the 21st-century workplace.
The Minister, who was represented by Simon Oduyebo, lamented that the challenge of unemployment is major issue confronting Nigerian youths arising from factors ranging from the mismatch between skills gained from formal education, employee requirements, and the inability of the economy to generate adequate jobs to absorb new entrant into the labour market.
“The skill development training for youths is one of the strategies of developing and deepening the employability skills of youths. A major focus of the Nigerian youth’s employment action plan is the evaluation of a framework that incorporates a multi-stakeholder approach with the Federal Ministry of Youth as the coordinating agency.
I do appreciate the management of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) for this gesture,” Dalung said.
The NOUN Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdallauba Adamu, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joy Eyisi described the NESDIP as an initiative aimed at giving fresh and unemployed graduates the soft skills required in the labour market.
“The essence of the workshop is to partner with the Federal Government, to equip our graduates towards processing the necessary skills that will help them to rise and shine in any work establishment of their choice, as the noblest search is the search for excellence,” the NOUN Vice Chancellor said.
The Director, Centre for Human Resource Development (CHRD), Prof. Grace Jonathan, explained that the training programme will be scheduled for three weeks which will be followed by the internship. The internship is said to be for the next 90 days.
